Also been connected with farming and the agricultural industry all my life, currently have a full time UK wide role connected to policy and regulation of veterinary medicines and also manage a small farm and DIY livery business. Long term involvement with local area and previous Long Clawson Village Hall Chairman that included the building of the new village hall facility. As a parent of three children at school in the vale, led a lobby group that managed to change the age range of Belvoir High School from 10 – 14 to 11 – 16 so that pupils could sit their exams at their secondary didn’t realise that this would impact all of the secondary schools in Melton Borough. Subsequently sat for 15 years as a Governor at Belvoir High Scholl, 6 as Chairman. Was Chairman of the local NFU membership branch during the first Foot and Mouth outbreak.
I have been actively involved with the Leicestershire and Rutland YFC organisation which provides a social/educational/life skills opportunity for young people between 10 years old and 26 years old from any background with a rural/countryside interest. I have been involved for 42 years and delighted to be a County Honorary Life Vice President.
My role as a County Council breaks down into three specific areas. Number one is to represent the residents in the Belvoir Division, helping to resolve issues that they have, be that large or small. Secondly, attending the 12 Parish Council meetings, across the Division, most of which meet every month. And finally, the roles and responsibilities as a Councillor at County Hall with attendance as County meetings, helping to deliver cost effective services for the residents of Leicestershire.
