Simon Bradshaw is our County Council Candidate for Syston Ridgeway. Here is a information about Simon.
Tell us more about you…
I was born in Leicester in the 1960s and have lived in and around Syston for over 25 years, I am married to Steph with a daughter who attended Wreake Valley Academy. I worked for Anchorprint Group of Victoria Street, Syston, which is a Local Printing Company with a history of serving the people of Syston. I am a passionate and experienced Local Campaigner, I previously served on Syston Town Council, and I represented Syston East Ward at Charnwood Borough Council from 2019 until the Boundary changes in 2023. When not working I like to socialise with friends in the local restaurants, pubs and clubs around the area, and we prefer to shop locally wherever possible to support local businesses.
Why are you standing?
I am standing for election because I want to make Leicestershire a better place for all who live in it and visit it.
What do you think the key priorities are for your division and the constituency?
The key priorities are maintaining Council services for all, especially the vulnerable, supporting residents whenever needed, ensuring Leicestershire County Council gets best value for its services and working with partner organisations to achieve this.
What are you most proud about achieving locally?
As a Borough Councillor, I was one of the people along with Syston Town Council, Ed Argar MP, Tom Barkley and Sue Gerrard, who managed to get one of the few Banking Hubs in the country at the time, established in Syston Town Centre.
What do you think is the biggest challenge coming into this county council election?
The biggest challenge for May 1st is the current voting trend towards Reform, which could split the Conservative vote and allow the Green Party to win in several divisions; our campaign literature needs to reflect this.
How can our members, activists & friends help you?
I have already received many offers of help which has been great, but members can help the most by sharing our social media posts far and wide and by asking anyone they know in the Melton and Syston divisions to either vote on the day or by postal vote, every Conservative vote will count and will be needed, we lost several seats by small margins in the Borough elections because people thought we would win easily and didn't bother to vote.
